The secretariat of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 8th December 1985 by the Heads of State/ Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
