      Ramsar Convention is a global intergovernmental treaty that offers a framework for national action and international collaboration for wetland conservation and smart use of wetlands and their resources. The Ramsar Convention is a Convention of Wetlands of International Importance.

      Explanation:

      In February 1971, the Convention had been convened in Ramsar, Iran and, once it entered into force on 21 December 1970, it was first signed up to by seven nations. 171 contractual partners and more than 2,000 authorized sites span approximately 200,000,000 hectares as of October 2019. (490,000,000 acres).
