It was established by a Central Government executive resolution in 1964. The Santhanam Committee on Corruption Prevention (1962–64) recommended its establishment. The CVC was initially neither a legislative entity nor a statutory body. Later, in 2003, a law conferring statutory status to the CVC was passed by Parliament. More about the Central Vigilance Commission(CVC):- Composition of CVC:- A multi-member body consisting of a Chairperson (Central Vigilance Commissioner) and not more than two Vigilance Commissioners. Appointment of CVC:- Appointed by the President on the advice of a three-member committee consisting of the Prime Minister as its head, the Union Minister of Home Affairs, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, by warrant under his hand and seal. Term of CVC:- Period of 4 years or until the age of 65 years is reached, whichever is earlier.
