The features of tropical deciduous forest are:

• These forests are less dense.
• Tropical deciduous forests are the most spreaded forest in India
• Found in the region receiving rainfall between 200cm and 70cm.
• Trees in such type of forests shed their leaves in dry summer for approx eight weeks.
• These forests are found mostly in the eastern part of the country.
• Tropical deciduous forests are of two types- moist deciduous and dry deciduous.
• Moist deciduous forests can be found on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats, north-eastern parts of the Chhota Nagpur Peninsular plateau and along the Shiwaliks.
• The rest of India is covered by dry deciduous forests.
• Tiger, wolves, rabbit etc. are found in such forests.
